RE: upcomimg solar eclipse

for sure it could be cloudy in Mexico and clear in Newfoundland. As it is the last chance I may get to see one, although I am considering iceland in August 2026

San Antonio does not look like a good bet. https://www.cnn.com/travel/solar-eclipse-2024-trip-planning-scn/index.html I intend on being in the Durango area.

upcomimg solar eclipse

Next spring on April 8th will be the last total solar eclipse in north America until 2045. It will be total in Mazatlan, Durango and Torreon and last about 4.5 minutes. Clear sky odds are about 80%. That drops to around 50% as it crosses Texas and then downwards, until it finally ends over Newfoundland. One caravan company is running several trips for it, or you can plan on doing it on your own. You may not find a campground in Mazatlan, but since it occurs around 11 AM, you can probably find something outside of the totality zone and drive into it or boondock in gas station. there are a couple close to Villa Union. Centerline is at the airport, Villa Union and Concordia. In Durango you need to go about an hour north around Guadalupe Aguilera. It will also be total on the balluarte bridge, but I am betting a lot of people have already thought of that one. If you really want to avoid crowds, Torreon is probably your best bet, but no RV parks. Since next year is supposed to be a solar maximum for flares, it hopefully will be quite spectacular. Just remember to protect your eyes. Unless you are on a tour where they are provided, it would be prudent to get them now. There is an app you can download which will tell you when it is safe to remove them and when to put them back on. Solar eclipse timer. Well worth the $1.95. https://mexicocaravans.com/images/clouds1.jpg
